Her Canadian husband Mark, 47, is to become the first foreigner to take the prestigious post next June – on a total pay package of 624,000 a year. Yet his British-born, privately educated wife, 46, has not only written favourably about the Occupy movement – which brought chaos to St Paul’s and the City of London last year – but has also attacked inequality and consumerism, saying ‘having more stuff does not make us happy’.
